To group participants and visitors to our website:

No matter who or where we are, we are all concerned for the health and safety of loved ones, the people and businesses we rely upon and the global economy. The way that we work and live our daily lives has been impacted and will continue for some time to come. As we navigate through these unique  and  evolving  challenges, we hope that everyone is doing well and remains safe.

We continue to educate when possible, update our website and post on LinkedIn to stay connected. Please reach out with any questions or in general.

We look forward to the time that we can meet in person as a group again!

Board of Directors

Empowering and inspiring women in Surety

Providing a network for professional development and connection

Women In Surety (WIS) was created in November 2016 to form the first cohesive group for women in the surety industry to fill an industry gap, bring great minds together for support, mentorship and intellectual challenge, and to network with industry professionals. In January  2017, a Board of Directors consisting of senior surety representatives from all constituencies (surety companies and brokers in both the contract and commercial surety spaces) was formalized. By March of the same year, the group hosted its first event.

We continue to grow our membership with regularly planned educational and networking events, along with a mentorship program. We look forward to expanding nationally and opening up opportunities for surety women everywhere.

We welcome your interest and support.

  • Education Committee We had over 100 people participate on our September 17, 2020 "Bankruptcy In Suretyship";  Misconceptions and Case Studies via Zoom with Matthew Haydon, Sr. Terry Dahl, Esq.,  Amanda MiceliTricia Wager, and Frank Tanzola as our guest speakers. Not only did it cover bankruptcy basics, but the case studies gave great perspective should anyone encounter this! For those that were unable to join us, a recording of the event can be found using this link, WIS Bankruptcy with Passcode: DHZ2X2.g

This link will be open until November 16, 2020.  The

presentation can be found on our website under the

Photo Gallery tab. Thank you to Theresa Giraldo and Marsh for

managing and sponsoring the Zoom Call. This was our last                 Education Event for this year. We look forward to hosting

more events like these in 2021!

  • Events Committee - We had a great turnout for our "Two Truths and a Lie" virtual HH on August 20, 2020 with the group. There were about 40 people who participated and brought their poker faces when it came to truths and fibs. Who knew?! Thank you to Gina Canouse/Travelers for sponsoring and managing the Zoom call. We will update you when we look to have the next HH.

  • Membership & Communications Committee - So far this year we welcomed Rye Capron, Emily Moore and Florence Pagan as new committee members. In addition, the Board has defined membership benefits/value proposition and dues for 2020. The details of this will be posted in Q4, along with activation of the Log-in/Sign-up feature on our website. Our organization has plans to grow membership locally, but also expand as groups in larger cities across the U.S. and then internationally with time. Continue to check the various tabs on our website and on LinkedIn regarding updates, newsletters, and Member Spotlights throughout the year.

  • Mentorship Committee - Lauren Quick was introduced as the new Committee Chair for 2020 at our January event. With that and recent committee member additions (Erica Colon, Mary Ann Mendez, and Joanna Bennewitz), the 2020 Mentoring Program was launched. Each year we grow on the experiences from the prior year and make enhancements to the program. The opportunity to network and focus on career goals is as important as ever. The 2020 Program is well underway with 24 participants

                                                                                                                           As of September 23, 2020
